Maibel Troia, musical director at the Don Bosco center, said a bigger challenge is reaching children in the neighborhood who are inherently distrustful of outsiders who make promises. "They think it's another lie, or that it's not a real future for them," she said. "But as they start coming and they get uniforms and they see the possibilities to do the work or go out and see concerts, they become excited about it."

Today we have several female choir directors who, after studying all the required musical subjects and practicing their technique, have earned their degrees and are leading various choirs, carrying out intensive professional work with great success. I will mention María Guinand, Teresa Jaén, Rosa Briceño, Adda Elena de Sauce, Beatriz Bilbao, and a new group of directors who have already joined this important movement in vocal art, including Maibel Troia, Ana María Raga, Irina Capriles, María Fernanda Pereda, Cira Parra, María Cabrera, and María Adela Alvarado.
