Biography
Maibel Troia inicia sus estudios musicales a temprana edad en la Escuela de Música Juan Manuel Olivares donde obtiene su primer título como Profesora Ejecutante de Piano. Comienza su carrera en el mundo coral en el Conservatorio de Música Simón Bolívar, donde estudia Dirección Coral y luego obtiene la licenciatura de Dirección Coral en el Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales - IUDEM.
Bajo la tutela de los maestros Alberto Grau y María Guinand realiza la Maestría de Música en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, siendo la primera egresada en Dirección Coral, también cursó estudios de Maestría en Música, mención Dirección Orquestal en la misma universidad bajo la tutela del profesor Alfredo Rugeles y luego realizó la Maestría en Gerencia Pública en el Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración IESA.
Continúa su formación en dirección, composición, arreglos e interpretación junto a grandes maestros como: Helmuth Rilling, Luigi Agustoni, Johannes Berchmans Göschl, Vic Nees, Liliana Cangiano, Robert Sund, Werner Pfaff, entre otros.
Junto a la maestra María Guinand dirigió el Orfeón Universitario Simón Bolívar en las Primeras Olimpiadas Corales en Linz 2000 de Austria, donde ganan tres medallas de oro en las competencias de Coro de Cámara, Música Popular con acompañamiento instrumental y Música Contemporánea.
Fue Directora asistente del Coro Mundial de Jóvenes dirigido por Anton Armstrong (USA) y Felipe Izcaray (Venezuela), Directora del Coro de Ópera del Teatro Teresa Carreño, Directora fundadora de la Capella UCAB - Universidad Católica Andres Bello, Directora Asistente de la Cantoría Alberto Grau junto a quienes participó en los más importantes encuentros corales nacionales e internacionales.
Ha realizado diversos montajes Sinfónico Corales para destacados maestros, tales como José Antonio Abreu, Gustavo Dudamel, Alfredo Rugeles, Alberto Grau, Eduardo Marturet, Christian Vásquez, Sir Simón Rattle, Claudio Abbado, Helmuth Rilling, Zubin Mehta, Hervé Niquet y Krzysztof Penderecki.
En 2006 el Maestro José Antonio Abreu le asigna la responsabilidad de dirigir y coordinar la conformación del Sistema Nacional de Coros para integrarlo al Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Infantiles y Juveniles de Venezuela conocido como EL SISTEMA. Junto a la Fundación Schola Cantorum de Venezuela, crearon el Proyecto Social Voces Andinas a Coro, VAC, promovida por la Corporación Andina de Fomento - CAF.
Ha sido invitada a dictar cátedras de Dirección Coral en FIU - Florida International University, Federación Internacional para la Música Coral IFCM, Programa Directores sin Fronteras, America Cantat, así como talleres de integración a través de la música en empresas como Google e Idear Academy, entre otras. Formo parte del staff de la Facultad de Música de la FIU - Florida International University y Miami Symphony Orchestra - MISO.
Actualmente, reside en Estados Unidos, es la Directora Fundadora de Encantus Voices & Ensemble y combina sus actividades artísticas con las formativas en AcadeMir Charter Schools donde recibió el premio de "Un Maestro Especial" otorgado por UNIVISION 23.
Educator
She began her educational work as a teacher of piano, music, musical language and orchestral practice at the José Ángel Lamas Higher School of Music and then became a teacher of Auditions, Forms and Workshop of Auditory Training and Score Analysis at the University Institute of Musical Studies - IUDEM.
Alongside Professor Henry Zambrano, director of the Llanos Symphony Orchestra, she was the conductor in charge of the papal mass in the city of Guanare during Pope John Paul II's second visit to Venezuela in 1996 , where the Votive Temple of Our Lady of Coromoto was inaugurated. This event marked the beginning of her involvement with the Venezuelan National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras , first as Academic Director of the Montalbán Children's Academic Center and later as Founding Director of the Venezuelan National System of Youth and Children's Choirs .
In this stage of her professional life in EL SISTEMA she is responsible for the creation of different music education centers around the country, among which are the centers: Andy Aparicio de La Vega, Coral Colegio Canaima La Vega, Coral Colegio Carlos Delfino La Vega, Christel House La Vega, Caricuao UD-5, Coro de la Clínica de Caricuao, Chapellín, La Alquitrana preschool PDVSA, Coral Fe y Alegría Abraham Reyes Catia, Coral Fe y Alegría Don Pedro Barrio Marín Las Acacias, Coral Fe y Alegría Prisco Villasmil Antímano and Special Education Choral Centers in Fundaprocura and Centro de Enseñanza Integral Dugardin.
During her teaching career she was a professor at the Orfeón of the Simón Bolívar University, the Andean Development Corporation - CAF, EL SISTEMA and the Schola Cantorum Foundation of Venezuela and the Academic Training Program for Orchestral Teachers and Directors of EL SISTEMA .
She is a member of the IFCM International Federation of Choral Music and conducts workshops for the IFCM 's Conductors Without Borders Programme.
Musician
She was Director of the Venezuelan Children's Choir programs, the Venezuelan National Youth Symphonic Choir belonging to EL SISTEMA , of which she is the founder, and was the General Coordinator of large Symphonic-Choral productions where outstanding national and international teachers such as Gustavo Dudamel and Sir Simon Rattle , among others, performed.
She also served as Assistant Director of the Alberto Grau Choir (1991-2001) and the Simón Bolívar University Choir (1991-1997). She worked alongside Maestro María Guinand. directs the Simón Bolívar University Choir (1997-2003) . In addition to being the Founding Director of the Chapel of the Andres Bello Catholic University in Caracas UCAB (1994-2001).
She was the Assistant Director of the World Youth Choir directed by Anton Armstrong (USA) and Felipe Izcaray (Venezuela) and has participated in the most important national and international concerts, festivals and choral meetings.
